About Earth Month Ecochallenge: Drawdown & Alteryx
Alter.Eco is Alteryx’s employee resource group (ERG) focused on environmental sustainability. Our mission is to foster an inclusive global community that is inspired to drive positive environmental change in order to create a more sustainable future. We aspire to educate and empower our members and the community around us by accelerating actions that consider environmental, social and human impact for the long-term.
From April 1 - April 30, 2021, Alteryx Alter.Eco joined Ecochallengers to take action on 80 of the most substantive global solutions. Earth Month Ecochallenge: Drawdown provided tools and inspiration to turn intention into action over 30 days, and gave participants a fun and social way to think about and act on proven solutions to reverse climate change.

reflections & inspiration
"Despite cold temp and fast winds, walked to the grocery store and back instead of driving!"
"I used to use straws, plastic bags a lot! Plastic bags substituted with cloth bags (just need to remember to carry them to the grocery store every time). Straw usage reduced drastically, and paper straws occasionally. Also looked into getting the steel straws — maybe that's a purchase for this weekend."
"Over lockdown I have been going for longer walks around the London 2012 Olympic Park. I noticed that the park itself was very clean and tidy but the local area on the way to the park has increased litter. I arranged for a local litter pick to take place which took over two hours to clear 15 bags of litter from the hedge and undergrowth."
"Eating in front of the TV became the norm during COVID, and when my daughter and I moved back to the table it was such a great shift. We ate slowly, talking to each other about our day. We ate less when we slowed down too. It was a great experiment that has become our normal again."
"Mindful eating allows one to take a break from work, de-stress and catch up with family. It allows me to start again with new vigor rather than constantly staring at the screen."
"I have made an effort to only buy my animal proteins from Whole Foods, as they have a grading system for their meat and post the origins of their seafood. As I am shifting towards a plant based diet, I have taken the time to learn more about the fishing practices and finding out about the sustainability of the producers. My seafood consumption falls within the guidelines for the United States, however I have learned about a few new fish that I may have to work into the rotation."
keep learning. keep taking action.
keep creating a better shared future with us.
